[특강] RAND연구소 안보전문가 브루스 베넷 “Evolving Security Challenges in Korea” > VIDEO

한국고등교육재단은 지난 3월 21일(화) 랜드연구소 (RAND Corporation) 국제안보정책센터 선임연구원 브루스 베넷 박사를 초청해 “Evolving Security Challenges in Korea” 라는 제목의 특별 강연을 개최했다. 재단 컨퍼런스홀에서 진행된 이 날 강연과 패널 토론 세션에는 200명 이상의 청중이 참석했다. 브루스 베넷 박사는 한반도를 둘러싼 새로운 갈등 시나리오와 북한의 핵무기 위협 증가, 한국 군사 규모 축소, 제3국의 개입 가능성의 네 가지 쟁점을 집중적으로 다루며 한반도 안보상황의 변화에 대한 대응 방안을 논의했다. On March 21, 2017, Dr. Bruce W. Bennet, a senior international/defense researcher at the RAND Corporation, delivered a special lecture at the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies. More than 200 people attended the public lecture and panel discussion titled, “Evolving Security Challenges in Korea.” In his hour-long lecture, Dr. Bennett addressed four important changes in the Korean security environment and their potential implications, namely, (1) new conflict scenarios, (2) the evolving North Korean nuclear weapon threat, (3) the demography-driven fall in the size of the ROK military, and (4) the possibility of third party intervention. After close examination of each, Dr. Bennett proposed actions that need to be taken to sustain deterrence capabilities vis-a-vis North Korea and to enhance US/ROK warfighting capabilities should deterrence fail.
